Deano,

Excellent show.
Campaigns are definately more fulfilling than one-off battles.

Two books that I found to be very valuable are Featherstone's "Wargame Campaigns" and "Advanced Wargames".

Also, Tony Bath's book, "Setting up a Wargames Campaign" should be a must-read for any gamer looking for ideas.

Keep up the good work.

I finally got my I-pod working, so downloaded all your shows and listened to them back to back at work a few days ago. I've been immensely impressed with the ideas and with your enthusiasm. I especially liked the reworking of Excalibur on the last show!

My own personal request for a future show would be your "Great Solo Wargaming Combinations or Games That Play Great Together Solo". I'm always looking at boardgames I can combine with my wargaming rules to create the full package. To me I suppose that means to have the economic phase, political phase, etc., run by a boardgame which would then generate the tabletop battles. I would then take the force dispositions and the location of the battle from the boardgame to the tabletop, using whichever rules seemed suitable for the scale of the engagement and of course the period in question.

Although not a solo project, as an example, we're currently using Empires in Arms to manage our 7 Years War campaign, with the tabletop battles being fought with the excellent Age of Reason rules. This would be my own recommendation for a fantastic wargaming combination. Empires in Arms is a Monster of a game and hard to find at a decent price.

Anyways, keep up the good work and I'm looking forward to #5

Barnaby.

Deano, FYI to all those listening to Episode 4. Amazon.com has 13 copies of Fantasy Wargaming (Hardcover) by Martin Hackett left new and used. Get cracking on Episode 5.

I liked this show the best so far. Not that the others were bad, just I felt this helped me the most.

Thank You

Hey, I completely LOVE your show. I like the content and the way you carry it on. You´re a smart guy and do justice to the great sub-hobby that solo wargaming is.

Just a suggestion. The left menu on the site is a little messy. Could you please make it clearer? The shows mix with links and other sections (forum, blog)

Keep it up. This is about the only podcast I listen to :)
